Commercial agriculture is the kind of farming found mostly in developed nations. It is where farmers have the intention to sell his or her production as part of commerce. So when someone farms with the intent to distribute his or her crops to retail or wholesale outlets, he or she is doing commercial agriculture.

The main goal of commercial agriculture is to achieve high profit through capital-intensive techniques in farming, labor-saving technologies and maximization of the number of crops. Commercial agriculture is entirely different with subsistence agriculture wherein a farmer is living on a small area of land and produces food enough to feed his or her family. The output from this is just for the basic requirements with little to no intention of engaging in a trade.
