Subsaharan Africa is the area in Africa located below the Sahara Desert. This area includes much of Africa. Since this is such a large area, the culture may be different throughout this region. However, they do share some characteristics including music. Many Africans in the Subsaharan play drums or listen to the music of drums. Other cultural aspects include their traditions. Each village has their own tradition.

Artwork can also be seen in the form of necklaces and other jewelry and masks. One thing that is shared among the countries in Africa is the language. The largest language spoken in Africa is the Niger-Congo languages. Many of the central and southern countries speak one of the languages in the Niger-Congo group.
