Ernest Shackleton is known for his expedition to Antarctica. On Shackleton’s last expedition to Antarctica, a last minute change occurred. Canada withdrew their money to fund Shackleton’s expedition. So, they decide to visit the Antarctic using a smaller boat that was not accustomed to these type of expeditions. Unfortunately, the ship showed that it really couldn’t endure this treacherous of a trip.
Its speed was much slower than the other vessels that Shackleton used as well as a steady leak. The vessel would list to the side when it encountered heavy waves. The ship known as the Quest got stuck in ice which caused the crew to abandon the ship onto Elephant Island. The crew was finally able to make it home and the ship was sent to England for repairs.
