The Earth is positioned in relation to the sun depending on the days it takes for the Earth’s revolution. Although the Earth’s axis tilts the same way and is slanted to one side over the course of its revolution, how close or far it is to the sun can only be determined through our seasons.

Winter, spring, summer and fall all suggest how close or far the Earth’s position to the sun is. If people who are living in the Northern Hemisphere are experiencing winter, then that means that Earth’s position is close to the sun. On the other hand, if people who are living in the Southern Hemisphere are experiencing winter, then that means that Earth is farthest from the sun.
