Minerals are naturally occurring solid substances and are found in rocks. Actually, in order to meet the real definition of mineral, five substance requirements must be met, and these requirements are as follows: It must be naturally occurring, it must be inorganic, it must be solid, it must have a definite chemical composition and its internal structure must be in order or with a pattern. Without meeting these five requirements, geologists do not label it as a mineral.

There are different kinds of minerals which vary in density, form, size, hardness, transparency and location. Some are radioactive or magnetic, while others are uncombined elements such as copper, gold, silver and diamond. In fact, diamonds are generally considered as the most desirable of all other minerals because of its spectacular interaction with light.
