New York has five boroughs or county level administrative divisions. These boroughs are the following: Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island. Manhattan covers 59.1 square kilometers in land area. Although geographically smallest, it is the most populous boroughs in New York with a population of more than 1 million people.

The Bronx covers 110 square kilometers in land area and with a population of more than 1 million people. Brooklyn covers 180 square kilometers in land area and with a population of more than 2 million people. Queens covers 280 square kilometers in area and has a population of more than 2 million people. Staten Island covers 152 square kilometers in area and has a population of more than 476 thousand people
