Penguins are a flightless bird that live on land, but spend a large amount of time in the ocean. Most penguins feed on fish, squid, krill and other small sealife while swimming underwater. Penguins spend half of their life in the ocean and the other half on land, making them considered aquatic animals.

While the majority of penguins live in colder climates, like the arctic and Antarctica, the Galapagos penguin is a smaller breed of penguin that lives near the equator. Penguins in colder climates have a thick layer of blubber as well as a water resistant coat of feathers.
