Scorpions have a surprisingly high number of legs for a small body. They have eight legs. Like spiders, there are four sets of two legs, one leg in each set resting to the left of the body, and the other on the right side of the body. They are, by this definition, arachnids. They do fall into the same classification as spiders, so this shouldn’t be too surprising to learn. All species of scorpions have eight legs.

These legs allow the scorpions to move fast over their land, which is needed when chasing small prey. When they catch up with their prey, they are able to use their stingers on the end of their tails to paralyze the prey. This venom is typically only harmful to animals smaller than the scorpion, though some species have more powerful venoms than others.
