The correct answer to this question is Why do the righteous suffer? The Book of Job is set in Uz, which is an obscure land far away from Israel. It is a poetic book and is the first poetic one that appears in the Old Testament of the Bible.

The poetic aspect appears in the monologues and dialogues the speakers have with each other. While the it primarily ask why people suffer, the Book of Job also asks why good people prosper. The book starts by introducing Job as a good man, with sons, daughters, and an abundance of wealth.
