Glucagon is a hormone produced by the pancreas. The main purpose of the glucagon is to increase the concentration of glucose and fatty acids. These are in the bloodstream. Insulin is also produced by the pancreas. Insulin decreases glucose.

Therefore, glucagon does the exact opposite as insulin which makes it ironic that they are both produced by the same organ in the body. When glucagon increases the glucose, it is stored in the liver. The pancreas is an important organ in the body that aids in the digestion.

It can be found behind the stomach. It is part of the digestive and endocrine system. It functions with both endocrine and exocrine. Therefore, the two main hormones produced by the pancreas are the glucagon and insulin.

The pancreas creates 2 hormones that help to control your blood sugar levels. These hormones are glucagon and insulin. Glucagon is produced by the alpha cells in the pancreas, while insulin is produced by the beta cells. Both of these hormones are vital to regulating your blood sugar levels. Inulin works to lower blood glucose levels and glucagon works to raise blood sugar levels.

If either hormone is not being produced in proper levels, this can lead to diabetes. Diabetics must take certain medications to help regulate their glucose levels, and must be sure to regularly check their insulin to avoid any health complications. These 2 hormones are essential to helping your body function properly on a day to day basis.
