Most common graphic type used within electronic media. Bitmaps are file images. Their purpose is to display the color and space for bits that are placed in the images. The image of the bitmap will normally store different color information for all of the pixels that are colored.

Bitmaps are often mistaken for vector images. Though they are similar, they do have differences between them. One of those differences is that vectors need math formulas to map out the image. Another difference between them is that vectors do not take up as much space as bitmaps.

A lunar eclipse is a phenomenon occurring when the Earth casts a shadow over the Moon. This happens when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth. When Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, light is unable to reach the Moon directly, and the Earth’s shadow is cast on the Moon.

There are three types of lunar eclipses: Total eclipse, partial eclipse, and penumbral eclipse. In a total lunar eclipse, the shadow of the Earth covers the Moon completely.

A partial lunar eclipse happens when Earth comes between the Sun and Moon, but the three do not align in a straight line, and only a small part of the Moon’s surface is covered.

In a penumbral lunar eclipse, the Moon is in the Earth’s shadow (penumbral). It is usually pale that you might not notice the Earth’s shadow on the Moon.

A bitmap is known to be a file image. This will have the ability to display the space and the color for each of the bit that is placed in the image. The bitmap image will usually store the different color information for each pixel that will be colored.

The bitmap is usually compared to the vector image, but they do have some differences. The vector will usually need different mathematical formulas so that it can map out the image properly. It will not take up as much space as compared to the bitmap. The main purpose of the bitmap is to store computer graphics.

Most common graphic type used within electronic media. Image quality sacrificed when it is enlarged (scaled), rotated, skewed, or distorted. Bitmap graphics are created by placing pixels (dots of individual color) in a grid-type format to create an image.
