What property of Z does this show?

An element Z forms a green compound ZO with oxygen. When exposed to air, the green solid slowly turns red-brown and becomes Z2O3.

It has variable oxidation states.-the answer is b. it has variable oxidation states.. the oxidation states of z increases from +2 in zo to +3 in z2o3, which exmplifies its variable oxidation states in its compounds.a. too general. not all metals can form multiple oxides.c. wrong statement. it becomes oxidised easily, which means that it should have high reducing power (reduction is the opposite of oxidation). d. a catalyst speeds up the rate of reaction without themselves being chemically-changed. in this case, z has changed from z to zo to z2o3, which shows that it is taking part in reactions instead of catalysing them.
