A person with a dependent personality disorder is someone who is excessively in need of being taken care of. They may become clingy towards the person who is showing them care. They may often feel like they cannot set out on their own because they need to depend on other people to care for them. One symptom of this personality is the inability to make decisions on his own.

He would need the approval of other people before he makes a decision. He would need to be constantly reassured of his worth and would need to be assured that he is making the right choice. Some people develop this personality because of having overprotective parents.
