What is harmony as a principle of art?

People may hear the words “harmony” when listening to a group of people singing. It is usually found in the art of music. Harmony can be defined as the sounds of each member coming together as one sound. When listening to the group of people singing, listening to the harmony may include determining the chords that are being heard together as well as the transformation of the chords as the song moves on.

It seems as if people believe that the opposite of harmony is the melody. When people sing in harmony, it creates a pleasant sound. When analyzing the harmony as a principle of art, it can be determined through the relationship it has between the elements in an art work as a principle.
