If you have ever watched any bloody war movie, you have probably heard of “morphine.” A soldier gets injured and is screaming in pain. The medic comes running over and injects a shot into the injured soldier and then the soldier stops screaming. However, morphine is not just in the movies. It is also given to patients in the hospital.

Morphine is primarily known as a medication given to patients who are having extreme pain. They know that morphine stops some of the pain. However, like any medication, patients are restricted to only certain amounts of morphine. They can’t have it as much as they would like. If a patient like Patrick is taking morphine, he should be aware that it prevents shock and relieves pain.

Prevents shock and relieves pain

Morphine is a central nervous system depressant used to relieve the pain associated with myocardial infarction, it also decreases apprehension and prevents cardiogenic shock.
