The first vice president of Botswana is Quett Masire. He took office in the year 1966, and he left office in the year 1980. He was an advocate for education, and he really made an effort to make higher learning available in Botswana, even if there were other people who were trying to interfere with his work.

He was also the one who founded BDP, also known as Botswana Democratic Party. People saw it as a chance to make Botswana become freer. He eventually became president when the then-president of Botswana died. He served three full terms wherein he truly made an effort to develop various parts of the country.
