Tunica vaginalis -the peritoneal sac extends through the spermatic cord as the processus vaginalis, which continues into the scrotum as the tunica vaginalis testis. after the neonatal period, the processus vaginalis loses its patency, and thereby separates the tunica vaginalis from the peritoneal cavity. the gubernaculum is a band of connective tissue that extends between the inferior pole of the testis to the scrotal fold and directs the descent of the testis into the scrotum. the cremaster muscle is derived from the internal oblique muscle of the abdominal wall.
