Slave trade increased-the triangular trade consisted of goods being traded between europe, africa, and america (such as with the columbian exchange) or between america, the west indies, and africa. the most direct effect of this trade was that africans were sold into slavery by the kings of warring tribes in exchange for the goods and services of america, especially rum. those slaves would be sent to the west indies to work on sugar plantations, and that sugar would be sent to the americas to make rum (which is made with a lot of sugar). that rum would then be sent to africa to trade for more slaves, thereby increasing the slave trade.go to:https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/46/triangular_trade.jpgto see a map showing the triangular trade
