True-one strategy for increasing hdl (good) cholesterol is to lower your triglyceride level. another strategy is to replace some of the saturated fat in your diet with monounsaturated fat (e.g., almonds or avocados). and one of the best strategies for lowering triglycerides and increasing hdl cholesterol is to exercise regularly! Note: like cholesterol, triglycerides are types of fat in the blood and could increase your risk of heart disease if levels are high. a cholesterol test measures levels of ldl (bad) cholesterol, hdl (good) cholesterol and triglycerides. all three numbers are necessary to compute your total cholesterol level.
