The correct answer to this question is The lectern where the Word of God is proclaimed. These would be found in Eastern Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox churches. It is in front of the Holy Doors, and it could be either a round or square shape.

There can be one to three steps that lead to it. When they were first used, the Ambon was elevated to read scriptures during the Divine Liturgy. They were first used in the East and the West. In Roman Churches, they are located in the front of the chancel.
