An aquired trait isnt something you are born with, it is something you can produce in your lifetime such as a human might be very tiny built, but might go to the gym and build extremely strong muscles. This human wont pass that trait on to their offspring. An adaptation is something you are born with to help you survive in your environment, and you can pass the gene on your offspring
