The answer to this is A. This will be best done if the central lane does not have any vehicles or if the vehicle is going to pass another vehicle that is going towards one direction. Do remember that there are some traffic rules that may change depending on the location.

It is best that you familiarize yourself with the different traffic rules in order to avoid potential problems in the long run. Getting traffic tickets can be highly expensive depending on the state that you are in. The other options will not allow the vehicle to travel in the center lane.

In preparation for making a left turn-2. when overtaking and passing another vehicle traveling in the same direction when such center lane is clear of traffic within a safe distance-3. when such center lane is at the time allocated exclusively to traffic moving in the same direction that the vehicle is proceeding and such allocation is designated by traffic control devices-nebraska revised statute 60-6,139:(2) upon a roadway which is divided into three lanes and provides for two-way movement of traffic, a vehicle shall not be driven in the center lane except (a) when overtaking and passing another vehicle traveling in the same direction when such center lane is clear of traffic within a safe distance, (b) in preparation for making a left turn, or (c) when such center lane is at the time allocated exclusively to traffic moving in the same direction that the vehicle is proceeding and such allocation is designated by traffic control devices;
