Is it true or false that a cervical lymphoepithelial cyst can displace the tongue superiorly and posteriorly or cause a swelling of the neck if located below mylohyoid muscle?

Lymphoepithelial cysts are known for being benign which means that they do not grow or are slow growing. They are lesions and they can usually be found on the neck and head. Another name for this type of cyst is called the Branchial cyst.

Cervical can refer to two areas which are the neck and the cervix. In this case, this cyst refers to the neck as the place where you would see this cyst. Since these cysts affect the head and neck, it could also affect other areas like the parotid gland which is a salivary gland.

However, it is not true that a cervical lymphoepithelial cyst can displace the tongue superiorly or posteriorly. It also doesn’t cause swelling of the neck if located below the mylohyoid muscle.
