Mesopotamia Mesopotamia is the area between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The word "Mesopotamia" in Greek means "between two rivers". Mesopotamia is an ancient region located in the eastern Mediterranean bounded in the northeast by the Zagros Mountains and in the southeast by the Arabian Plateau.

In our world today, Mesopotamia is now Iraq, parts of modern-day Iran, Syria, and Turkey. Mesopotamia is also the place where the world's earliest civilization developed from. It is the first places to develop agriculture. The rain was seasonal in Mesopotamia. This means that the land flooded in the winter and spring and water was scarce at other times.
