It would depend on the level of trust that is given to the nursing aide. There are some places wherein the nursing aid can make adjustments to the catheter but there are also some that would not allow this. To be on the safe side, let us assume that the nursing aide is not allowed to make adjustments to the tubing that has automatically become disconnected.

The best thing that the nursing aide can do is letter A. The ends should be wiped with alcohol and the tubing should be reconnected. The nursing aide now has the duty to tell the nurse about it. The nurse can note it and also check what the nursing aid is done.
