A gene pair is made of two alleles. These two alleles making up a gene pair are inherited from the parent. One is typically gotten from the father, and the other from the mother. These copies of genes are contained in the chromosomes, and influence the performance of the cells.

There are different ways by which alleles interact with each other, and these are referred to as inheritance patterns. As mentioned earlier that chromosomes contain genes. There are basically two chromosomes that determine the sex of a baby, and these are the X and Y chromosomes. The Y chromosome is basically inherited from the father, while the X chromosome is inherited from the mother.

The Y chromosome is inherited through the sperm, while the X chromosome is inherited through the egg, but the X chromosome can also be gotten from the father. When an X chromosome is released by the father, the baby turns to be a female; but if Y chromosome, the baby would turn out to be a male.

The different versions of genes that are available are also called “alleles.” One allele will be taken from the father while the other allele will be taken from the mother. These different versions of alleles will have the same task but they will be slightly different because they come from two different parents.

There are instances when the different versions of alleles that are available have resulted in different types of traits. There are different things that can be inherited from parents. Aside from the usual physical traits, some diseases may also be passed on to future generations.

Parents pass on traits such as hair color and blood type to their children through their genes. Certain health conditions can also be passed onto the children. Changes in the gene can take on various forms, and each variation of a gene is called an allele.

These two copies of the gene enclosed in your chromosomes affect the way your cells operate. The two alleles in a gene couple are hereditary, one from each parent. Alleles communicate with each other in different ways. There are inheritance patterns, and examples of these patterns include autosomal, dominant, autosomal recessive, X-linked dominated, and mitochondrial.

Sometimes a gene encompasses a modification that interferes with the gene’s instructions. A change in the gene can occur naturally or can be inherited. Changes in the coding that make a gene function can lead to a plethora of conditions.

50% for a son, zero for a daughter. II3 is clearly heterozygous. Therefore, there is a 50/50 chance that a son will have hemophilia. If we know nothing about II3 except that hemophilia is in siblings, then it is 25% for sons.
