An 18-year-old man comes to the physician 6 hours after he twisted his ankle while playing football. Physical examination shows looseness of the lateral collateral ligament, suggestive of a tear.

The correct answer to this question is option A
A deficiency in blood vessel around the affected ligament will further slowdown the healing process.
Cartilages and ligaments are known to have low blood supply compared to the blood supply to the bones. This means there is poor blood flow, poor supply of nutrients and oxygen to the cartilage and ligaments.

If the little that is available becomes unavailable, the ligaments has a further decrease the amount of blood flow, nutrient and oxygen supply, which will in turn slow down the healing process of the torn ligament.
