The word you are looking for is “database”. A database is a collection of information that is stored, either electronically or physically, so that we can access that information in the future. Many electronic databases deal with peer reviewed journal articles. Any college student will be familiar with a few of these, since they are the best place to go for scholarly sources.

Databases can also have other things in them. There are databases for websites, books, and, as mentioned above, scholarly articles that have been peer reviewed and published in various journals for many different disciplines. These databases, no matter what they have in them, are meant to help make data accessible. They often have a manager, someone who is meant to make sure everything is running smoothly or figure out how to fix what’s not working.
