Holes was written by Louis Sachar and details the adventures of a boy named Stanley Yelnats. He is from a poor family who doesn’t have much in the way of money, food, or expensive items, although they love each other very much. His family always seems to fall into misfortune and they believe they are cursed due to an incident with an ancestor.

Stanley is accused and sentenced to Camp Green Lake for a crime he didn’t actually commit. Since he has grown up poor, he isn’t picky about food and doesn’t notice the bad quality of the food at camp.
