The SSID is the service set identifier and is the name associated with the wireless local area network. It may also be called the network name. The SSID is a long text string of up to 32 numbers and letters.

It is case-sensitive. You find this name when you purchase a router, for example. These routers also try to improve network security by disabling SSID broadcasting, but this is still a simple path for hackers. In fact, if the wireless security options are not turned on, anyone can connect to it. It is not optional to create an SSID but is necessary.

The SSID must be included in an association request frame.
The SSID is an alphanumeric value with a maximum length of 32 octets.
