D Walkthroughs and inspections are quite different in this context. Inspections are a formal process, planned by the team, and includes a moderator. Careful reports and notes are taken to check the standards and requirements of the product and the whole routine requires a great deal of preparation. A walkthrough is informal, unplanned, and suggested by the author.

The author checks in with his team in a more casual manner and asks for suggestions. There is no moderator present during a walkthrough, but the author could function as a type of leader in this setting. Authors are present at both events.

A walkthrough is led by the author, whilst an inspection is led by a trained moderator.
