The industrial revolution changed people’s lives in numerous ways. New factories resulted in new jobs for many. People were encouraged to move into different areas to get work at these factories. No longer were people tied to their own plot of land for farming and survival.

As more people moved into new areas of America, the Native Americans were gradually forced from their lands. Andrew Jackson responded, in part, to pressure from settlers who were hoping to move into parts of the South. Areas of this land were occupied by the Native Americans and the settlers appealed to Jackson for help. He signed over seventy removal acts to expand the country and to remove the Native Americans.
