When you are tasked to clean the dentures of a patient or resident, it is advisable to make sure that the sink that you are using is filled with water, so that if you accidentally drop the dentures while cleaning, the water on the sink will break the fall and prevent the dentures from breaking.

Alternatively, if you are cleaning the dentures in a location where a sink is not available, you may place a soft folded towel on your workplace to act as a safety net in case you drop it. It is recommended that you handle a patient’s denture with extreme care, due to the fact that dentures are classified as fragile and can break easily.

You must fill the sink with water so if the dentures fall they would not break
