For those who do not know, the Harlem Renaissance was the time when the Whites realized that the Blacks have given a significant contribution to society. This has made African Americans able to show that they are able to produce rational thoughts as well as the Whites. The lost generation is the period after World War I.

There are a lot of men who died before they were fully mature and they are referred to as the lost generation as they never got a chance to live a life without war. This is the type of poetry that focused on the writer instead of the usual type of poetry that was popular before that.
