What is a Trimmer?

A. A beam joist or rafter supporting one end of a header at the EDGE of the opening in the floor or roof frame.
2. A short transverse joist that supports the end of the cut-off joist at stairwell holes.
3. A wood strip nailed to the lower side of a girder to provide a bearing surface for joist.
4. A horizontal beam supporting a floor joist.
5. Any joist which carries a floor.
