He would be sent to an insane asylum. This question is related to the book Of Mice and Men. Throughout reading the book, it is noted that Lennie has a mental disability. The author of Of Mice and Men do not explicitly state what is wrong with Lennie, but he does hint throughout the book that his mindset is not 100%, which affects the things he does.

His mental capacity is one of the reasons why he would need to go to a mental hospital, for if Georgie is taken away, Lennie would not have the ability to take care of himself.

According to the crooks, Lennie will go to a mental hospital if George goes away. However, as far as that goes, that’s because Lennie is written in this book in such a way that it is obvious something is wrong with him. The reader never knows what, specifically, since Steinbeck doesn’t tell us. Regardless, at this point in the book, Lennie simply can’t take care of himself.

George is the one that keeps him from going off the leash. That’s all there is to it.
Now, I haven’t read “Of Mice and Men”, but I know enough about the characters to answer this question. I’m probably leaving out some major details, but I don’t have time to read this book right now.

It is obvious that Lennie is mentally disabled. It is not stated in the story what his main problem is but it is evident through his mindset and the things that he normally does. The crooks have stated that if Georgie would be taken away, Lennie will immediately go to the mental hospital. This is a possibility that seems imminent at that time especially because he would not be able to support himself.

There are also other people who would take him away in a heartbeat. In the end, Lennie had to be killed because he accidentally killed another person. This is a crime that was committed out of love.
