A literature review is a portion of a research paper that reviews all of the previous research, findings, and work that has been done thus far in relation to your research question. Because of this, your research problem and question should be clearly defined.

You do not know what literature is relevant if you do not know what you need to research. The literature review helps the researcher create the study, which leads to development of data collection and data analysis. There is a standard order of events when conducting an academic study.
