Theres a runner on first with no outs. The batter hits the ball and it bounces to an infielder.What should the runner on first do?



A. Because he is forced, he should run to second as soon as he sees the ball was HIT on the ground.
B. He should go to second if he thinks he can get there in time, but go back to first if he can t.
C. He should go halfway, stop, and then wait for instructions from the third base coach.

Because he is forced, he should run to second as soon as he sees the ball was hit on the ground.

The key to understanding when the force is in effect is remembering that there can never be two runners on the same base.
