Which statement best explains why the actual population growth is less than the potential population growth?
The dotted line on the graph below represents the potential size of a population based on its reproductive capacity. The solid line on this graph represents the actual size of the population.



A. Resources in the environment are limited.
B. More organisms migrated into the population than out of the population.
C. The birthrate gradually became greater than the death rate.

The statement that will prove this is A. A means resources in the environment are limited. There are different reasons why the population will not grow as expected. Some people die early because they do not have enough resources to sustain their needs.

All the other given statements prove that there is more population as compared to what they have expected. There are places in the world wherein population has not grown over the years. This had led to the population becoming older. The older the generation, the lesser the chances that the youth will still do what the elders are doing.
