This image is a portrait painted by the Infamous Jan van Eyck. It shoes two clogs or sandals. These can represent a gift such as a wedding present or it can be used to depict the sacred precincts of these shoes. The painting is called the Arnolfini Portrait. Jan van Eyck was born in the 1390 and died in 1441.

He was a Dutch painter and is considered the pioneers of early Dutch paintings. His art strongly represents the northern renaissance art. The painter is well known for his exquisite art and many of his paintings hang in huge buildings all over the world.

The Arnolfini Portrait by Jan van Eyck.

The clogs and outdoor sandals which the couple have removed might be typical wedding presents, or represent the taking of shoes in a sacred precincts.
