HPI stands for History of Present Illness. This can provide detailed information about the primary complaint of the patient. This means that the answer to this question is D. This will place in detail what the possible causes are of the person’s condition. For example, a person who is recovering from dengue fever has elevated liver enzymes.

This will then be checked further so that the cause of the elevated liver enzymes will be determined. Is it only primarily caused by dengue or are the liver enzymes already high even before the person has gotten the condition. This can be studied through the HIP.
