Excel is a software program from Microsoft that provides spreadsheets. Most people who use spreadsheets are doing so because they want to manipulate and sort numerical data. Usually, the user will enter the numbers or import them into the spreadsheet. Sometimes, they may cut and paste them from another document. Each number goes into a cell. Sometimes, the user will put a formula into the cell. This will perform a function in that cell.

Formulas can also be entered so that multiple cells will be used. One way to use the formulas is to get an average of the numbers in certain cells and then place that average in a specific cell. To do this you would need to enter the formula by staring off with “=AVERAGE” and then place those cell titles in parentheses.
