The genetic code is a complex language which translates into all living beings on earth. The complex language is written in the form of bases which form codons in triplets. Now these triplets basically code for amino acids, the building blocks of the living body. There are 64 codons, which include 3 stop cons as well. However, there are only 24 amino acids. This means that each amino acid has multiple codons that translate into it.
Hence, there are far more codons than amino acids which is why the DNA code is called a degenerate code. This means that a single amino acid may be coded for by different arrangements of codons, increasing the complexity of the entire language.
