The answer to this is 88.0 g. The amount of ethanol should be added to the amount of oxygen. This means that 46.0 grams added to 96.0 grams of oxygen will be 142 grams. From 142 grams, the 54.0 grams of water that has been produced will then be subtracted from the total. The total will be 88.0 grams. The same solution can be done when a similar equation is given even when the numbers are changed.

Carbon dioxide is actually needed in the environment by plants in order to produce oxygen that people need. The constant production of carbon dioxide plus a substantial amount of plants will ensure that people will have enough oxygen to keep them alive.
