The correct answer to this question is Zachary. His name could also be spelled, Zechariah or Zachariah. Information on him can be found in the Gospel of Luke in the Bible. Zachariah was a priest. The angel Gabriel announced the birth of John the Baptist.

Zachariah didn't believe the angel. He could not believe it until he saw John himself. When he saw him, he gave John his name. This is written in the First Chapter of Luke. Zachariah praises John at his birth. This praise is known as Benedictus, which means blessed. Other than this, there are no other mentions of Zachariah in the Bible, but in Church history, he is seen as a martyr.
