There are three phases of gastric secretion:

  1. Cephalic Phase: It occurs just before food enters the stomach via neurological signals. This phase prepares the human body for eating and digestion.
  2. Gastric Phase: The Second phase is the Gastric phase which lasts for about 3 to 4 hours where food entered and distended the stomach.
  3. Intestinal Phase: The last one is the Intestinal phase which occurs in the duodenum. It consists of two parts -the excitatory, and the inhibitory.

Here, Duodenal phase is not a phase of gastric secretion.
