Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the immune system sends out incorrect signals that make skin cells grow too fast. It is not contagious. Dermatitis, on the other hand, is redness or spate of the skin. It is like eczema, which is also a chronic condition. There are five types of dermatitis.

These include contact, herpetiformis, seborrheic, nummular, and perioral. Dermatitis can occur as rashes or blisters with swelling, itching, and lesions. A variety of allergens and irritants can trigger it. The good news is that dermatitis requires a much more comfortable treatment compared to psoriasis. It can be treated with creams, corticosteroids, and wet compresses.

Psoriasis, on the other hand, has five different types. These include guttate, pustular, erythrodermic, plaque, and inverse. Psoriasis most commonly occurs on elbows, knees, scalp., palms, soles, and the genitals. The fingernails and toenails may also be an area of concern. Psoriasis can cause psoriatic arthritis. It is chronic, and in the most unfortunate cases, it can completely cover the body. Phototherapy and medications that can be taken orally or injected are also being utilized for psoriasis treatment.

Psoriasis and dermatitis are both skin conditions, but that does not mean they are the same. Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that causes skin cells to grow quickly. The effect of this skin condition is the appearance of gray or silvery flaky patches on the skin. These patches of rough skin can be seen anywhere on the body. Dermatitis is also a skin disease that causes inflammation of the skin. This skin condition also has symptoms similar to that of psoriasis. It usually causes scaly skin are in different parts of the body. Since there are different types of dermatitis, they are usually identified depending on where they occur on the body. Although both can cause red patches on the skin, most especially when scratched, the number one way to differentiate between the two conditions is to compare the scales they produce. For instance, psoriasis produces scales that are thicker than that of dermatitis.

Psoriasis is an example of a disease known as an autoimmune disease whose main symptom is silvery or gray patches on the skin, which are inflamed when scratched. What causes psoriasis is when the immune system releases signals that cause the skin cells to grow faster. It is a noncontagious disease and can be divided into five different types. Guttate, Pustular, Plaque, Erythrodermic, inverse are the five types of psoriasis. Psoriasis can occur in common areas like the scalp, knees, genitals, and palms. A chronic form of psoriasis can appear all over the body. On the other hand, dermatitis is a disease that causes inflammation of the skin. It can also cause rashes to appear on the skin. This condition is similar to eczema; chronic inflammation of the skin. Dermatitis herpetiformis, contact dermatitis, stasis dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and perioral dermatitis are some of the types of dermatitis. Allergens and irritants are common causes of dermatitis. On the contrary, psoriasis does not have a particular known cause.

Psoriasis is known to be a chronic type of skin disease. What this does is it will make the skin cells grow so quickly that the skin will have the tendency to stay there for an extended period of time. This can make different patches of skin appear on different parts of the body including the scalp. When you say seborrheic dermatitis, this can look similar to psoriasis because it will also have the tendency to make some portions of the skin look scaly. This may also appear on some parts of the face and also the scalp. One main difference is that you will notice that the patches of psoriasis will have the tendency to look drier. If you would look at your scalp when you have psoriasis, you will notice that it will normally extend beyond your hairline.
