It can be confusing to know the difference between key lime and lime because of their names. When you say key lime, you are referring to a type of West Indian limes. The main difference between this with limes is that they are more aromatic. They will also have a tarter flavor.

The juice is going to have a seemingly floral taste and scent. One thing that you should know though is that there are key limes that are being purchased that are not very good especially when they are already bottled. Key limes can be used for different recipes especially if you would like to improve the usual type of pie that you are going to purchase. They are meant to be sweeter than usual.

Lime is many different things, as it is a bright, fun, yellowish-green color. It is good medicine for scurvy, as its leaves are also utilized as herbs in different parts of the country. It is also used in essential oils and perfumes. For the most part, most people know of lime as the citrusy green fruit, which, rather than being eaten, is mostly used to liven up drinks, and in many different international dishes.

Lime is also used in the manufacturing of cleaning products. Key lime, on the other hand, is smaller, has more seeds, and has a stronger aroma than other varieties of lime. Key lime has even more of the yellow undertone that plain lime has. Key lime also maintains a thinner rind than most other lime types. The flavor is also uniquely different, as it has a more robust and bolder tart taste. This flavor is why it is used in decadent desserts, such as key lime pie, as well as different syrups, marinades, curries, and dressings.
