Gout is known to be a systemic condition. This occurs when a person has high uric acid levels in the blood. This can lead to the formation of different crystals in the joints that can cause a lot of pain. There are a lot of people who may experience this in different joints but most people will know that they have gout based on how their big toe looks like.

This is why gout can sometimes be mistaken as a bunion which also affects the toes usually. A bunion is considered to be a type of toe deformity. There are various treatments that are available for these two conditions.
