GSM is the Global System for Mobile Communications or technology for wireless calls, and about 80% of the world uses this. T-Mobile and AT&T use GSM, and it offers a more extensive international roaming network and can be used worldwide. It uses sim cards that can activate different phones for the same network account.

3G is a mobile communications standard that lets mobile phones, computers, and other electronic devices access the internet wirelessly. It is the third generation of wireless mobile telecommunications technology. It allows for faster data transfer and has progressed from 3G to 4G and now to the new 5G

GSM and 3G are both related to mobile technology. GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communications. It was one of the first and was the original standard for mobile technology. 3G came after GSM and ended up replacing GSM.

Along with being newer, 3G does not have as much coverage as GSM has. Across the world, GSM is the popular mobile phone technology. GSM changed the landscape of phone technology, for it allowed phones to have text messaging and access to the internet.

Since 3G, there have been new networks such as 4G, and now 5G, but not all areas have access to those networks, which is why 3G is still popular.

Global System for Mobile communications is the acronym for GSM. GSM is the current and also the most widely employed standard for mobile phones, but 3G, in contrast, is the next generation of mobile technology, which has begun replacing GSM. 3G is actually still in its early stage and has covered a small area in comparison to GSM. GSM is the most eminent phone technology in the entire world.

Though some other technologies exist which are competing with GSM, GSM has offered lots of possibilities to the world of mobile phones such as text messaging and also low-speed internet access. While 3G is a very new technology that was introduced as a substitute for the old and obsolete GSM technology, it offers notable improvements the GSM technology in almost all aspects. For instance, mobile internet speeds on 3G networks start at 384kbps, which already is within the range of DSL speeds.
